Editorial standards

The focus of our work

Animal behavior, the design of an experiment and the space between observation and explanation.

Evidence and attribution

Coverage will describe the task before interpreting the outcome. A response in one setting is not a complete account of an animal’s mind.

Claims should fit the work

A comparison based on documentation is described that way. Firsthand testing, interviews, professional review and site visits are claimed only when that work is documented. Examples are labeled when they are fictional.

Health and professional advice

This publication provides information and preparation resources. It cannot assess an individual animal or replace advice from a qualified professional.

Corrections

Substantive corrections should explain what changed and why. The contact page states whether a verified editorial contact route is available.
